Rubin Mathias is a versatile and multifaceted achiever. He is a healthcare IT analyst. Presently, a senior business analyst at Tech Mahindra, Bangalore. He has an interest in society and activism. He is also a freelance music writer.
He has served at Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems with Oracle Health.
He has been a freelance music writer with Sinusoidal Music, publishing reviews and artist interviews for the web and video. He has reviewed music and interviewed local and international independent music artists, like the guitar tech of the black metal band Mayhem. Interviewed music artists like T. M. Krishna, Warren Mendonsa, and others. He has covered music festivals such as Bangalore Open Air, Oddball, Bandland, and others. As a musician and guitarist, he has an instrumental rock song released featuring drummer Ujwal KS of Pineapple Express.
He has been active in trade unions like AICCTU and CITU, primarily organizing workers in the IT and IT-enabled services sectors, as well as in gig work. He is a convening body member of IT and ITES Democratic Employees Association (IIDEA) affiliated to AICCTU, and formerly joint secretary of All India IT & ITeS Employees' Union, Karnataka, affiliated to CITU. He has worked with All India Students' Association (AISA) on student issues and broader leftist, democratic, and progressive civil society in Bengaluru.
His larger interests are in history, politics, society, social movements, and culture. He has been working on researching class, caste, history, and identity among South Canara Catholics.
He completed his schooling at St John the Baptist High School, Mumbai. He graduated from Alvas College (Mangalore University), Moodbidri. He has a Master’s in Computer Science and Political Science.
