Reuben Jason Machado, a 29-year-old swimmer, is a musician and former lecturer from Mangalore. He is a multi-instrumentalist and is the record holder of the Golden Book of World Records (GBWR) for his remarkable feat of swimming backstroke over 700 meters while continuously playing the flute, creating a unique world record; such an achievement has never been recorded in any world record compendium, making this a historic global first. The attempt showcases an extraordinary blend of endurance, breath control, and musical artistry, reflecting Reuben’s dedication to both fitness and the performing arts.
He is also an official life-saver, certified by the National Institute of Water Safety (NIWS) and is proficient in both Hindustani and Western flute. In addition, he is skilled in playing the saxophone, guitar, and several other instruments. He draws his inspiration from flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia. He has composed music for Bollywood, Sandalwood, and Coastal films and has performed at several prestigious events across India. Notably, he participated in the 2016 World Culture Festival, where over 150 musicians from around the world joined in a Guinness World Record-breaking performance. He also has his own musical band, ‘Winds and Keys’ and performed in various prestigious platforms, including the wedding ceremony of Ananth Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
