Rev. Leo DSouza, SJ

Fr. Leo Dsouza SJ is the former Principal of St. Aloysius College. He was also the Rector of St Aloysius College institutions in Mangalore.  He is a world-acclaimed botanist. He was awarded the prestigious Canisius Medal for his outstanding contributions to higher education and Spiritual Leadership at the IAJU 2025 Assembly held in Bogota, Colombia, in July 2025.

He did his Ph.D studies at the world-famous Max Planck Institute, Germany. He has established the Laboratory of Applied Biology at St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore. As a scientist, he has published numerous research articles in international journals.

Born in Mangalore, had his early education at St Aloysius College institutions. Recently celebrated sixty years of Jesuit priesthood.
