Father George Abraham Thadathil has been appointed the global head of the Rome-based Salesian higher education institutions /Instituto Universitario Salesiano (IUS).
Father Thadathil was born in 1963 and did his primary education at St Mary’s High School, Maruthonkara in Kozhikode district, Kerala. He joined the Salesians in 1981 and was ordained a priest on May 11, 1992. He completed both M Phil in Philosophy and Christian Studies from Madras University and went on to pursue a doctorate in Interdisciplinary Research (Philosophy-Sociology) over two years from the School of Religion and Philosophy.
He was a junior research fellow, with the Indian Council of Philosophical Research, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. He spent two sabbaticals visiting Ivy League Universities of Princeton, Yale, and Stanford as well as leading Catholic Universities of both East and West Coasts in the U.S. As the IUS’ founding executive board member since 2001, Father Thadathil has visited Salesian university institutions in South America, Asia, and Europe.
