Father Paul Thelakat was born on March 10, 1949, in a family who were members of St. Francis Xavier Church in Cheranalloor East, Ernakulam district.
After studying philosophy at Carmelgiri and Theology at Mangalapuzha seminaries in Aluva, he was ordained a priest in 1974 for the Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly. Thelakat was the editor of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church-run English bi-weekly, ‘Light of Truth’. The 75-year-old priest of the Ernakulam-Angamaly archdiocese edited the weekly for 37 years. He had helmed ‘Sathyadeepam’, another publication brought out by the Church, from 1986 to 2004. He has a doctorate from Catholic University, Leuven Belgium, and his thesis was on “God Suffers Evil: Study on A.N. Whitehead and Thomas Aquinas.” (Collected from public domain)
