Rear Admiral Nelson D’Souza is the Commandant of the Military Institute of Technology (MIL IT), Pune. He is an accomplished alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and Naval War College, Goa, and has served in numerous key positions within the Indian Navy since his commissioning in March 1991. Under the new leadership, MILIT aims to continue nurturing highly skilled techno-warrior officers who would chart the course of the armed forces in India into a future-ready force. 

He did his schooling at St Aloysius College, Mangalore, and his BE (E&C) from SJCE, Mysore. Born in  Kulshekar, he has had an accomplished career of 33 years in the Indian Navy. Before taking over as commandant of the MILIT Pune, he was the chief staff officer (Technical) of the eastern naval command. His other appointments include being the principal director for weapon equipment at naval headquarters, and general manager (R) of the naval dockyard, in Mumbai. During his illustrious career, he has served on board various naval ships like the aircraft carrier Viraat, Missile Corvette INS Kirch, and Destroyer INS Mysore as an electrical officer.
