Lieutenant General Johnson P Mathew is a serving general officer of the Indian Army. He currently serves as the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (CISC). He previously served as General Officer Commanding Uttar Bharat Area, before that he was General Officer Commanding III Corps.
The General Officer is an alumnus of Sainik School, Kazhakootam. He then attended the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy. He is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Army War College, and the Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration (APPPA) course at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi. He was commissioned into the Punjab Regiment in 1985 from the Indian Military Academy. He has undertaken Instructional appointments at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and the Officers Training Academy, Chennai, his staff appointments include service in the Mtn Division, Counter Insurgency environment, Sub Area, and key appointments at the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (ARMY). He has command experience in conventional and counter-insurgency operations in Northern/Eastern theatres and has commanded III Corps. He has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal in 2024, the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal in 2022, the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, and the Vishisht Seva Medal.* (Collected from the public domain) UPDATED ON 08/10/2024.
