Joel Alexander Pereira is a music maestro of Mangalore in Karnataka state. He is the son of Konkanni Traditional Music Gumtam expert Joachim Pereira.Joel known as Joy, is proficient in playing Organ, Piano, Violin, Accordion, Sitar, Tabla, Gumtam etc.
He was the director for “Maando Fest-2003” a record-breaking musical extravaganza first time in the history of Konkani Music. It is said any Konkanni musical Nite or extravaganza, any Konkanni audio or video Album recording is incomplete without the instrumental accompaniment of Joel Pereira! He has arranged music for over 400 albums in Konkani, Malayalam, English, Kannada, and Tulu and arranged voices for more than 1600 hymns and Songs. He has composed music for religious plays like “Dhavid Ani Goliath”, “Ankwar Moriyechi Katha” and so on. He has given music to bring out audio albums of hundreds of singers. Along with singing, he developed a passion for literature and became a popular writer of six plays on bible stories and four social plays.
He is a recipient of the Sandesha Konkani Music Award conferred in 2016. He has won the Best Music Composer award for the year 2013 at the Global Konkani Music Awards.* (Collected from the public domain)
