Dr. Oscar G. Concessao is a world-renowned architect and urban designer based in Chennai. Dr. Concessao has several high-profile Awards to his credit. Though it is difficult to mention all these awards, he has been awarded at the national and international level more than two hundred times. His recent well-known awards have been the Premier recognition for Design excellence, WADE ASIA ( 2025), National ICON Award 2025, at the India Visionary Leaders Summit 2025, New Delhi, and the prestigious “Eminent Aloysian Alumni Award” 2025, at Mangalore.
He has been a speaker/resource person at various forums of architects and builders at national and international levels. His expertise has been sought by various agencies in India and abroad. He is involved in various charitable tasks as well.
He had his early education at St. Aloysius institutions at Mangalore. Thereafter, he pursued his studies in Architecture at NIT, Tiruchirapally, and later at the Universities of Oklahoma and Harvard in the United States of America. He was awarded a PhD in 2008 and later on an honorary doctorate in architectural science from Universita Milano, Italy. After his studies, he served at Emery Roth & Sons, New York City (a Company that designed the World Trade Center), specializing in Office Towers, Apartments, Hotels, and Shopping malls. He has also worked at Silver & Ziskind Architects, Manhattan, specializing in Airports, Hospitals, and Campuses.
He, along with his spouse, Dr. Ponni Concessao, owns the architectural firm OPR Architects in Chennai. His firm engages and specialised in Architecture & Urban Design of Engineering and Medical campuses, Sustainable Green Buildings, Eco Friendly Architecture, Affordable Housing, Tsunami Housing, Central Government& State Government Buildings, Special Economic Zones (SEZ) Townships, IT Parks, Biotech Parks & Hospitals, Hotels and Resorts, Stadiums, Residential Schools, Corporate offices, Skyscrapers, High Rise Office and Residential Towers, Apartments, Luxury bungalows, Interiors for Five Star Hotels, Resorts, Restaurants, Software Parks and Luxury residences. (Projects built in the Middle East, USA, and several cities in India).
