Dr. Alexander Thomas has served the healthcare sector in India for over 30 years and holds positions in several national associations. He is the Founder-Member and President of the Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI), Founder-Member and President of the Association of National Board Accredited Institutions (ANBAI), Founder-President (2012-2017) and Patron of the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations (CAHO). He is on the Boards of NABH, the National Technical Committee for Setting Standards for the Clinical Establishment Act, the Health Sector Skills Council, the Task Force on the Skills Gap in Healthcare, the FICCI Committee on Health Insurance Fraud, and the India Backbone Implementation Network (IBIN). The main focus of IBIN has been Elder Care in India. Dr. Alex has led a group of experts to develop a collaborative document on elder care titled Aspirations of the Elderly in India, which highlights priority areas for intervention. In these roles, he has effected far-reaching policy changes within the healthcare landscape, especially in healthcare communication. His book Communicate. Care. Cure. -A Guide to Healthcare Communication was first published in 2012 and is an important book for those involved in Healthcare. He has been awarded the Waterfalls Global Award (Healthcare Sector) by the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
