Hugo Almeida/ Hugo A

The international music scene has a new sensation in 16-year-old Hugo Almeida, known professionally as Hugo A.  He has secured a victory in the 19th season of X Factor Denmark, marking a swift rise from a school student in Sønderborg to a national household name.

When his family relocated to Denmark from the UAE in December 2016, Hugo built his academic and musical foundation across Sønderborg International School, Humlehøj School, and Dybbøl School. He is currently enrolled in the 10th-grade Music Line at Hoptrup Efterskole. His X Factor triumph is the result of eight years of intensive training at Sønderborg Musikskole, where he developed into a versatile pop and rock vocalist. He has performed in the Danish-German Music Festival in Flensburg, the Nord-Als Music Festival, and several school-led musical tours across Denmark. He also made his first national television appearance as a background performer on MGP 2023, broadcast on Danish national television DR.

Mentored in the competition by Danish rapper Benjamin Hav in the Young Soloists category, he had delivered numerous performances that resonated strongly with audiences nationwide. His performances steadily built national attention, establishing him as one of the season’s standout contestants. He is proficient in English and Danish singing and remains deeply committed to his craft as he continues to evolve as a young artist. He regularly attempts singing in Hindi, Kannada, and Konkani at home, reflecting a conscious effort to stay connected to his cultural roots.

Hugo was born in the UAE in June 2009 to Mangalorean parents Wilson and Molin Almeida, who are also active in various performing arts.
